Hours you can approve with confidence.

Staff record their week and declare it. Managers approve it, or send a day back. The break rules are checked on every shift, and what the approver sees is what payroll gets.

What it does

  • A week that checks itself

Monday-to-Sunday weeks, overnight shifts, and entries that overlap or have breaks longer than the shift are refused at entry rather than found at approval.

  • Declared on submission

Every submission carries a declaration the employee must tick, and a question about whether they have a concern. The concern never stops a submission; it goes, encrypted, to the administrators rather than to the direct manager.

  • Break entitlement on every day

Each worked day shows the paid rest and unpaid meal breaks the rules give for its length, resolved as at that date, beside the breaks recorded. A shortfall is flagged to the manager and administrators.

  • Approve a week, or just a row

An approver can approve or return a single day with a note, approve the whole week, or reject it. Nobody can approve their own. An employee can ask for a submitted week back, with a reason, and a manager grants or declines it.

  • Payable hours, once

Payable hours are the hours worked less recorded unpaid meal breaks, or less nothing where you pay through lunch. The payroll export sends the same figure the approver was shown.

  • A manager's decision, on the record

Where a shift falls outside the rules, or a manager decides to measure it differently, they assign the breaks themselves. Departing from the rules needs a reason, and the derived figure is kept alongside so an inspector can see both.

Worth knowing

The limits, stated plainly, so nothing on this page says more than the software does.

  • A break shortfall warns; it never blocks a submission or an approval. Nobody can dismiss the warning either — it clears itself when the shortfall is put right.
  • The break rules are New Zealand's, maintained by Ask Your HR for every customer. Australian employments are not evaluated.
  • The entry form takes a number of rest breaks and meal minutes; the exact start and finish of each break is recorded separately when it matters.
  • Timesheet notifications are in the app, plus a daily digest email that lists weeks awaiting approval.
